To get the most out of the competitions, it is best to submit images. These typically consist of slide, colour print and monochrome print. Don't worry if you don't have any darkroom techniques for B&W, this can all be done digitally. It's amazing what Photoshop can do for you these days.
For those new to competitions, there are a few simple rules.
-
For printed entries, the image must be mounted on a mount no larger than 50x40cm.
-
All images must be given a suitable title - use your imagination.
-
Digital B&W is acceptable.
-
Digitally manipulated images are accepted.
-
For slide entries, the slide must be marked with your name and the image title. The bottom left corner needs to be 'spotted' - in other words place a large spot in the left bottom corner with the slide in the correct orientation. This ensures that it does not go into the magazine upside down or back to front.
-
Make sure you have your images ready a few weeks beforehand. Handing in dates can be found in the programme.
